The New York Police Department may be calling for backup at the New Year's Eve performance by Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas. The Jonas Brothers are performing in Times Square for "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest" and the NYPD says it could result in a "mob scene." "So they're now planning on using extra [security] men for support," a source tells People magazine. "It's going to be crazy because everyone will be in Times Square to watch them perform on the show." Police officials expressed their apprehension over the performance in a recent meeting with the producers of the show.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Four years after a stroke, Dick Clark is relishing the prospect of another New Year's Eve celebration, determined to appear for his 36th year in Times Square.


Another big name from the world of music is set to perform on "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest." Will.i.am will help ring in 2009 by singing "It's A New Day," says the Associated Press. The Black Eyed Peas singer says his song was inspired by Barack Obama's groundbreaking presidential-election win. Joining Will.i.am on Clark and Seacrest's TV special are the Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift and Lionel Richie.

Pop music trio Jonas Brothers, and country star Taylor Swift, will perform live in Times Square on New Year's Eve during "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve." Talk-show host Ryan Seacrest will co-host the celebration, and country music artist Kellie Pickler will act as a correspondent, the Associated Press reports. Fergie will host a Hollywood portion of the program which includes performances by Natasha Bedingfield, Fall Out Boy, Ne-Yo, and Pussycat Dolls. "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" airs at 10 p.m. New Year's Eve on ABC.
