Britain's Queen Elizabeth has joined Twitter. The 82-year-old monarch has become the first member of the royal family to join the social networking website, which allows users to update their friends on what they are doing.

Reports claim an in-depth account of Monday's Commonwealth Observance - a service to mark the 60th anniversary of the modern commonwealth, which is being held at London's Westminster Abbey - will appear on the site.
