"It was the first decision I made as a father," Clay Aiken says about coming out as a gay man in the new issue of People. "I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things. I wasn't raised that way, and I'm not going to raise a child to do that." Clay makes the revelation in the next edition of the magazine, which hits stands this Friday. He will be pictured with his newborn son, Parker, and talk about the importance of being truthful regarding his sexuality. "Whether it be having a child out of wedlock, or whether it be simply being a homosexual, it's going to be a lot," he says regarding the reactions of his fans. Still, he says his fans "know that I've never intended to lie to anybody at all. ... But if they leave, I don't want them to leave hating me." The singer also reveals that he told him mom about four years ago, after an emotional parting with his brother who was shipping off to Iraq. "I started crying in the car," he says. "It was dark. I was sitting there, thinking to myself. I don't know why I started thinking about it ... I just started bawling. She made me pull over the car and it just came out." His mom "started crying. She was obviously somewhat stunned. But she was very supportive and very comforting." Even now, Clay admits, "She still struggles with things quite a bit, but she's come a long way." He is scheduled to appear in an already-taped interview about this headline-grabbing revelation with ABC News' Diane Sawyer, with promos beginning to run Wednesday morning, and the interview running on "Good Morning America" starting Thursday. Clay, who has long deflected questions about his sexuality, recently welcomed his infant son with his longtime female friend Jaymes Foster. Travis Barker and Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein made a dramatic escape while engulfed in flames from the Learjet crash in South Carolina that critically injured both men and killed the four other people aboard the plane, a police officer who arrived on the scene tells People magazine. "[Travis and Adam] told me that they slid down the wing on the right side of the plane," Lt. Josh Shumpert of the South Congaree Police Department tells People. Shumpert was one of the first to arrive on the scene in Congaree, a town outside of Columbia, SC. Doctors for Barker, 32, and Goldstein, 35, say both are expected  to make a full recovery despite the second and third degree burns suffered in Friday night's horrific crash. Barker, a former drummer for the group Blink-182, is close friends with DJ AM. Investigators have said the Learjet crash may have been caused by a blown tire during takeoff. The coroner's office in South Carolina confirmed that the aircraft's pilot and co-pilot died from smoke inhalation while the two other passengers were killed by injuries resulting from the impact.

Five reality-show hosts opened the lamest Emmy Awards show in history Sunday night but it wasn't so bad after all. As it turns out - there was no TV viewing audience tuned in to watch the live trainwreck.

On his radio show Monday, Ryan Seacrest explained why their un-scripted, ad-libbed, opening monologue was lame: "For a while, we didn't have anything until we came up with the fact that our 'something' was 'nothing.' . . . And once finally I realized that we had nothing and that 'nothing' was being honest, and that was real . . . we actually, we were good. . . . I say we were 'good' not in terms of 'I thought we were great,' I'm just saying we were done, we did it, we're good, we're out. We were good, we're good -- right?"
A California judge has ruled that actress Sharon Stone will no longer share joint custody of her oldest adopted son Roan with her ex-husband Phil Bronstein. Phil has been granted sole physical custody.

Sharon recently filed papers asking for changes to the arrangement, but she still wanted to keep joint custody. Entertainment Tonight reports that the court denied her requests because she "failed to meet her burden of proof."
