Gary Coleman was charged this week with reckless driving and disorderly conduct, stemming from an incident earlier this month in Utah with a man named Colt Rushton. Now, his attorney is telling "The Insider" that the former "Diff'rent Strokes" plans to fight the charges. "These charges are crazy," Coleman's attorney says. "Mr. Rushton created this situation on his own. We plan to fight these charges until Mr. Coleman is vindicated. Even Mr. Rushton admits that he was hanging around in the parking lot by Gary's truck. Gary's testimony will confirm that he, his wife and friends had delayed leaving the bowling alley assuming that Mr. Rushton and his party had departed."

Yesterday, "The Insider" confirmed the news that Gary Coleman was charged with reckless driving and disorderly conduct after allegedly attacking a Utah man and hitting him with his truck. Colt Rushton is suing the former "Diff'rent Strokes" star and his wife, Shannon Price, and now he's speaking exclusively to "The Insider" about the incident!   "Gary, I wasn't trying to cause you any harm," the 24-year-old student says to the "Insider" cameras. "I wasn't trying to defame you whatsoever. You could have killed me, and it was totally inappropriate how you reacted." Rushton claims that while at a local bowling alley with his friends, he noticed Coleman and his party and took a couple of pictures of the actor with his camera phone. He was later told by Coleman's bodyguard that he could not take any more photos unless he paid $20 per pic. "I was like, "Man, I don't want to pay for any pictures of Gary Coleman I'm not a part of any paparazzi organization or anything like that,'" explains Rushton. Later that evening, Rushton says he noticed Coleman's truck outside. Saying that he found the close proximity of the front seat to the steering wheel of the diminutive star's vehicle "comedy," he took another picture with his cell phone of the car. Then, "a woman took my phone out of my hands … this female reached around and scratched my [other arm]. I just let go. I was in shock. It was Shannon Price." Rushton says he asked for his phone back and offered to erase the pictures if they gave the phone back. "I wasn't out of line whatsoever," he claims. "As I'm talking to [Price], Gary Coleman comes around the back side of the truck -- he's coming right at me. He totally snaps. He jumps up in the air as high as he could and he starts throwing some punches at my upper chest. … I'm just like, 'Gary all I want is my phone. I don't want any trouble.' "He freaks out, throws my phone in the back seat of his truck," Rushton continues. "He cranks the wheel to the right, accelerates [in reverse], I'm in the way … and [he] knocks me to the ground, hitting my lower back and knocking me three or four feet … and apparently smashed into the side of another vehicle that was parked behind him. I was on the ground; I was in a lot of pain. I had some lower back problems; my knee, it hurt. "Apparently there were some Utah County Sheriffs that witnessed this whole incident that came over and pulled Gary out of the truck, leaving the truck in gear. The truck was still moving forward and it almost hit me again when I was on the ground. … The pain was so excruciating I couldn't move." Of the dramatic incident, Rushton says, "I was surprised that he acted like this; you'd think that in his sort of work that he'd be able to be calm about certain situations," adding, "Gary obviously had some anger issue that night. Actress Tatum O'Neal -- who was arrested in June of this year for trying to buy cocaine -- speaks out to "The Insider" about her father and half-brother's recent arrest for drug possession. "Addiction, if untreated, can lead to jail, institutions and death. I love them both and I am sorry to hear about this," Tatum said. "The Insider" confirmed yesterday that actor Ryan O'Neal and his son Redmond were arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession after Redmond's probation search at the actor's Malibu home. Deputies found Redmond O'Neal, 23, in possession of methamphetamine, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore, adding that the drug was also found in Ryan's room. Twenty-three-year-old Redmond was arrested for suspicion of narcotics Wednesday, along with his father Ryan O’Neal when additional methamphetamine was allegedly found in the elder O’Neal’s bedroom. The source goes on to tell "The Insider" exclusively, “The drugs found in Ryan’s bedroom were not his. Ryan had confiscated those drugs from Redmond 2 or 3 months earlier, and was only keeping them away from his son.
