Newlywed Ryan Reynolds isn't just sitting around enjoying married life with bride Scarlett Johansson -- he's waking up at the crack of dawn to fulfill a momentous challenge -- running the New York marathon! In a new essay for the Huffington Post, Ryan writes that he's not naturally inclined to run a marathon: "I am not a runner. I'm a running joke." In fact, a few years back he watched the finish of the New York marathon from a comfy vantage point near Tavern on the Green, and remembers: "People were crying. People were limping, hobbling, screaming, crawling. But most importantly, people were experiencing a sublime rapture that I couldn't even hope to understand." But that didn't convince him, "At that moment, with all the energy, inspiration and passion swirling through the crisp, autumnal air, I breathed in deeply and decided something: I'd never f***ing do that ever, ever." So what changed his mind? Ryan gets serious and writes that his dad, Jim, suffers from Parkinson's disease. In a conversation with Parkinson's sufferer Michael J. Fox, Ryan recounts, "In a moment of extremely poor judgment, I offered to do something big for him -- I offered to compete in the New York City Marathon. Which was, well … dumb." Ryan, who promises to "sob uncontrollably" during the race, says that no contribution is too small (or too large) so if you'd like to help the fight against Parkinson's, you can contribute on his donation web page at Michael J. Angelina Jolie is exploring more of her feelings on motherhood in a new article with Parade magazine.   "I'm just a mom and I'm very grounded by my family. I'm very happy, and I'm so lucky," she tells Parade. In the upcoming film, 'Changeling,' the mom of six young children plays a woman whose son is kidnapped. When the police return "her son" to her, she realizes that the boy isn't her child at all. "It if wasn't real, everybody would just say it's too far fetched to be true," Angelina says on the shocking plot twist, "But this is about an actual women who fought the system and found justice in the end, even at the risk of her own life." Angelina says that her role as mom to Maddox, 7, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, Shiloh, 2, and twins Vivienne and Knox, almost 3 months, helped her prepare for the role: "As a mother, it was harder for me imagining that someone was abusing my child while they were wondering why mommy wasn't coming to save them. As a mother, that's just the worst possible scenario. So this film was very, very painful." Angelina even talks about her relationships with Parade, saying she is still "good friends" with ex-husbands Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton, and honestly helps her in her relationship with partner Brad Pitt: "I don't want to spend my life pretending to be somebody else, and I don't want the person next to me to have to pretend ever, because we have a long life ahead of us."

Drummer Travis Barker is on the mend after being involved in the jet crash that injured he and his friend, DJ AM, and killed four others. Barker suffered second and third degree burns on his hands and lower body but was able to give an interview to Us magazine during his stay at the Grossman Burn Treatment center in L.A.
