British actor Patrick Stewart was so desperate to perfect his pronunciation when he took to the stage he dedicated much of his youth learning "how to speak". The X-Men star admits he fought hard to lose his Yorkshire, North East England, accent, and spent entire weekends intensively training himself to speak in more eloquent tones. He says, "I led this double life for a number of years. I had a wonderful teacher. I met her as a result of a drama course.”
