Reuters - Joe Jackson, the elderly father of late pop star Michael Jackson on Friday filed a court petition seeking an allowance from the singer's estate, saying his son had supported him for many years.
AP - Michael Jackson father is seeking an allowance from his son's estate to help cover expenses that exceed $15,000 a month, according to court documents filed Friday. The request seeking an unspecified amount for Joe Jackson was filed by lawyer Brian Oxman, who said there was no apparent reason for the administrators of the estate to not seek an allowance for the Jackson family patriarch.

The A&E cable network has announced the premiere date for the Jackson family reality show. A&E has announced that "The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty" will debut on December 13 and focus on Jackie, Jermaine, Tito and Marlon Jackson as the four brothers get together and gear up for a concert tour. The show will also cover the Jackson brothers' lives coping with the untimely death of Michael Jackson It is unclear if the King of Pop's children will appear in the show. The six-episode miniseries will air on December 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on A&E. The show's regular timeslot will be Sundays at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT beginning December 20.

"She has not made a decision yet," Oprah's production company told ET in a statement. "As she has previously stated, she'll be making an announcement before the end of the year." Michael Jackson father is trying to obtain an allowance from the late singer's estate. "The Insider" has obtained court documents filed by an attorney for Joe Jackson in Los Angeles on Friday, in which the 81-year-old is seeking an allowance from his son's estate. The papers state that Jackson "has been without support since the death of his son…," and "is in urgent need [of] funds to maintain his household." Jackson's attorney also says in the document: "For reasons which [were] never explained, [the special administrators of Michael Jackson estate] excluded Joseph Jackson from their petition although they knew that Michael Jackson had supported for many decades his father….” The papers also state that Joe Jackson suffered a stroke in 1998, was hospitalized in 2004 for stomach ulcers and "was dependent upon the money provided by his son, Michael Jackson through his wife, Katherine Jackson, for his support." The AP reports that a judge has approved $26,000 in monthly payments to his mother and $60,000 monthly for the care of his children -- "Prince" Michael, Paris and "Blanket."
