The original Ms. Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir? has been a soul survivor since the early '60s, and with new recordings and the recent release of a fourth book, she shows no sign of slowing down any time soon in the new millennium. In 1975, "Lady Marmalade," a funky little tune with the women's lib-inspired catchphrase of "voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir?" became an anthem for the hedonistic disco era. Patti LaBelle, the leader of vocal trio LaBelle, left the group to go the solo route the following year, and continued to find success on the pop and R&B charts with hits like "New Attitude" and "On My Own" in the mid '80s.
