Her family is of Ukrainian descent.
Her surname was changed from Shefschenko when the family immigrated to America in the 1940s.
She's just as much a fan of Cajun and Creole food as of borshcht (her family's Ukrainian), and, while not a fan of computers, she's into low-tech art like pinhole photography.
Studying at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
