AP - Natalie Cole, who suffers from hepatitis C, is resting at her Los Angeles home after being released from the hospital earlier this week, Cole's representative said Friday.
Natalie Cole is back home and taking it easy after being laid up in the hospital for a few weeks while battling Hepatitis C.

The 58-year-old daughter of the late Nat King Cole was forced to cancel her fall tour dates after checking into a New York Hospital last month and being put on dialysis. "She is back at home and she seems to be doing pretty well," her spokesperson said. "The Hepatitis C is pretty much under control."

Natalie Cole has been discharged from hospital. The 58-year-old singer - the daughter of late legendary crooner Nat King Cole - was admitted to a New York medical center last month after a setback in her battle with Hepatitis C.

She has now been allowed to return to Los Angeles and is considering returning to work in November, despite canceling tour dates for this month after being placed on bed rest.

Quincy thinks he might be able to help her if he can get through to her: “We had a doctor we met at a benefit the other night that says he has the new technology that could save her with Hepatitis C, so we’re trying desperately to reach her to get in touch with her because she’s in the hospital as we speak, with the dialysis and everything.” Natalie was hospitalized in mid September and a close family source told "The Insider," "She's had a setback and has gone into the hospital." “She’s in New York now,” Quincy says. “We’re trying to reach her and we can’t get through.” Quincy tells “The Insider” that his relationship with Natalie goes all the way back to her childhood, when he worked with her father, Nat King Cole: “I worked with her father in 1960, [with] my band in Europe and Natalie was seven years old then and she went to school with my daughter. She was a sweetie back then.” “The Insider” talked to Quincy in Seattle on Friday, where his alma mater, Garfield High School, is dedicating the Quincy Jones Performing Arts Center to the music producer.

Our source adds: "The side effects of [Natalie's] treatment and her extensive promotional schedule in support of her just-released new album, Still Unforgettable, led to the Grammy winner's hospitalization." Just last week, Natalie came to the "The Insider" set to talk about her battle with hepatitis C, saying, "This is a virus that was dormant in my body for 25 years. I had no symptoms, was feeling great, working out like a crazy person -- and this just keeled me over, like a feather." At the time of our interview, she was still being treated for the disease. "What I have is treated with chemo ... every week," she says, adding that she experiences the traditional side effects from the treatment, such as nausea and her hair falling out. In the days ahead, Natalie will be able to return home to begin her "month-long bed rest," the singer's reps tell People magazine. Natalie checked into the NYC hospital last Friday, says Us magazine. "She was doing press in New York last week when she got really sick due to chemotherapy she was undergoing to treat her hepatitis," the mag’s source says. "She got anemia from the treatment."
