Daughter of former singer Diane McAfee and actor Brandon Maggart. Because her teachers perceived her to be antisocial, Fiona began psychotherapy at age 11. A year later she became the victim of sexual assault. She crafted a demo tape while in Los Angeles finishing High School. When she returned home to New York for Christmas one of the tapes found its way to a friend who supervised the care of a music industry executive's children. The executive played the demo's for producer, Andrew Salter who immediately requested a meeting with Fiona.


Is a vegan. Has a pierced navel. Has a sister, Amber, who sings cabaret under the name Maude Maggart. Her "fhw" tattoo stands for "Fiona has wings," a personal trademark which refers to a childhood daydream where she rises above her schoolmates who then exclaim, "Fiona has wings!" Her second album, titled "When The Pawn Hits The Conflicts He Thinks Like A King What He Knows Throws The Blows When He Goes To The Fight And He'll Win The Whole Thing 'Fore He Enters The Ring There's No Body To Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand And Remember That Depth Is The Greatest Of Heights And If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where To Land And If You Fall It Won't Matter, Cuz You'll Know That You're Right", holds the record for the longest album title ever. Her song "Sleep to Dream" was recorded by Bettye LaVette on Lavette's 2005 CD, "I've Got My Own Hell to Raise" (Anti). Her 3rd album, Extraordinary Machine, was completed in 2003 but Sony Music delayed the release and eventually decided not to ever release the album based on the projection that it would not sell. Fiona left Sony Music. Fiona's fans protested by mailing apples to Sony Music headquarters and finally the album was released in 2005. Ranked #84 on VH1's 100 Sexiest Artists.
