Annie Lennox was reportedly devastated when she was dropped by Sony BMG and described it like a "kick in the teeth". Annie could not believe the treatment by her record label as they just stopped answering her phone calls just weeks before her contract was about to expire. This is how they treat who they once called "one of the finest musical voices of the age"? Annie said:

"They totally ignored me. It was bizarre. It was a kick in the teeth. They didn't return my phone calls or emails for three weeks. I'm trying to find out what's behind it. Probably a good thing I'm no longer with them - mild understatement. Unless it's them trying to tell me something... Hello!"

Annie is trying to decide about her future in the music industry.  She reveals:

"It feels like I'm spent, as if I've completely run out of energy. I'm going to take my time over the coming months to figure out what to do with this freedom."

Annie's last album, "Songs of Mass Destruction" reached number 9 in the Billboard 200 chart in October 2007 and sold 78,000 copies during the first week of its release in the U.S.  I guess that may not be enough for the likes of Sony BMG, but they're idiots to treat a legend without any respect to what she has accomplished over the years. Annie, you are still loved and you're still one of the best despite that asinine treatment by the label.

It's a little more understandable when temporary stars get dumped.  It shows they don't have any staying power in the business, but someone like Annie Lennox has proved herself over many many years.  I can't believe they would do that - it's sick.
