When we first heard about her, we assumed it was just another older woman belting out songs trying to be a one-hit wonder. When we saw, and more importantly heard Anastacia, we changed our tune. This singer's soulful, gospel voice can be heard on her hit single, "I'm Outta Love". No, that's not Taylor Dayne, it's Anastacia.
Former dancer on "Club MTV" Graduated from the Professional Children's School of Manhattan. Suffers from Crohn disease, a chronic illness of the intestines, since she was 13 years old. A segment of her small intestine had to be removed due to the damage made to it by the disease. She still bears the scar of the operation on her lower abdomen. Announced on 21 January 2003 that she was diagnosed with breast cancer, after her doctor told her to go through a mamography. Luckily for her, the cancer was diagnosed at an early stage and is most probable that she will recover. Was a classmate of the late River Phoenix. Had a seven-year relationship with Shawn Woods which ended in 2001. Former companion of German MTV presenter Patrice Bouédibéla (2005). Her mother was a Broadway actress and father was a singer on the East Coast. 1990 - Sung back-up vocals on pop star Tiffany's "New Inside" album Joined Shakira, Céline Dion and Cher for VH1 Divas Las Vegas. Won an MTV Europe Music Award for "Best Pop" (2001), a World Music Award for "Best New Artist" (2001) and two ECHO Awards for "Best International Newcomer" (2001) and "Best International Female Singer" (2005). Her song "Boom" became the official song of the World Cup Korea/Japan. Her debut album "Not That Kind" was released in 2000 and reached the Top 10 in several countries, making her an icon in Europe, Asia and Oceania. Although the following albums "Freak of Nature" (2001), "Anastacia" (2004) and "Pieces of a Dream" (2005) were successful as well, she hasn't made as big an impact in the US. Daughter of actress Diane Hurley and singer Robert Newkirk. Married her bodyguard Wayne Newton in Mexico (21 April 2007).
