She met Mario López when he emceed the 1998 Miss Teen USA pageant and she was a commentator. He was instantly smitten. Though she was hesitant, he persisted. Engaged to actor/TV host Mario López (summer 2003). She is from the southwestern region of Louisiana, also referred to as "Acadiana"; this area is known as the "heart of Cajun country". Ali and her husband, Alejandro Gomez Monteverde, are expecting their first child in July, 2007 [March 30, 2007]. At age 33, she gave birth to her first child. Daughter, Estela Ines, was born July 12, 2007 just after 9:30 am, weighing 8 lbs, 2 oz.
