"L-Word" actress Leisha Hailey is firing back at Southwest Airlines -- claiming she and another woman only shared "one modest kiss" on an SWA plane ... before they were wrongly kicked off.

SWA had released a statement yesterday, claiming the flight attendant only booted the girls after passengers complained about "excessive" PDA. But Hailey claims it's all BS.

Hailey and the other female kisser -- who also play in a band together -- released a joint statement saying, "In no way were our actions on Southwest Airlines excessive, inappropriate or vulgar."

They add, "We want to make it clear we were not making out or creating any kind of spectacle of ourselves, it was one, modest kiss."

However, the two admit, "We take full responsibility for getting verbally upset with the flight attendant after being told it was a 'family airline.'”

The statement continues ... "We find it very disturbing that the same airline who lauds itself as being LGBT friendly has twisted an upsetting incident that happened into our behavior being 'too excessive.'"

Both women insist they will be filing a formal complaint with the airline.

Actress Leisha Hailey -- who starred in "The L-Word" -- says Southwest Airlines hates gay people ... and claims that's the reason she got kicked off a flight today.

Leisha just unleashed a flurry of tweets to her thousands of followers -- claiming a flight attendant booted Leisha and her GF for kissing on the plane ... because SW is a "family" airline.

Leisha is now demanding a public apology from Southwest -- calling for her fans, and gay people everywhere, to boycott the airline for its "homophobic" policies, writing, "They don't like us."

A rep for Southwest tweeted her back with a quick apology -- asking for Leisha to contact the company privately so they can sort out a solution. So far, no official word from Southwest.

Southwest Airlines claims it only kicked a lesbian "L-Word" actress off a flight today after multiple passengers complained about her "excessive" affectionate behavior with another woman.

As we previously reported, Leisha Hailey went on a Twitter rampage hours ago -- claiming a flight attendant booted her and her GF for kissing on the plane ... because SW is a "family" airline.

Now, SWA has released a statement ... explaining, "Initial reports indicate that we received several passenger complaints characterizing the behavior as excessive."

The statement continues, "Our crew, responsible for the comfort of all Customers on board, approached the passengers based solely on behavior and not gender. The conversation escalated to a level that was better resolved on the ground, as opposed to in flight."

Still, SWA notes, "We are ready to work directly with the passengers involved to offer our heartfelt apologies for falling short of their expectation."

The chick who plays super hot bisexual Tina Kennard on "The L Word" is calling off her real life marriage ... to a man -- according to divorce papers obtained by TMZ.

Laurel Holloman filed the papers earlier this month, asking an L.A. County Superior Court judge to end her 9-year marriage to architect Paul Machery.

The couple has two young daughters together -- but Laurel has requested to share joint physical and legal custody of the children with Paul.

Laurel, who blames the split on irreconcilable differences, has also asked the judge to block Paul from obtaining spousal support.

According to the docs, the two have been separated since last year.
