Studied at the Royal Dramatic Theatre School in Stockholm
One of Ingmar Bergman's favorite actresses. They made 10 movies together: Ett drömspel (1963) (TV), Ansiktet (1958), Efter repetitionen (1984) (TV), _Nattvardsgästerna (1963)_, Nära livet (1958), Riten (1969) (TV), Smultronstället (1957), Tystnaden (1963), Vargtimmen (1968) and Viskningar och rop (1972).
Trained as a ballet dancer in Stockholm and then as an actress at the Royal Dramatic Theatre.
Head of jury at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1980
