Named Hermione by her father after Helen of Troy's daughter. Initially trained as a dancer. Her father died when she was 21. One of her chief annoyances used to be that people never knew how to pronounce her first name. She expressed relief when the first Harry Potter film was released as she hoped people might start getting her name right as the female child lead is also called Hermione.
