Her parents sold a car to pay for Cyndi's music studies at Nashville's Belmont College. She dropped out after a year and a half to concentrate on her songwriting. To pay expenses, she worked as a waitress and part-time model. In the early fall of 2001, scored a three-week #1 hit with "What I Really Meant to Say." Her father worked for Kraft Foods and her mother worked at a local hospital.
