Calvet's father, a scientist, was the inventor of Pyrex, a glassware that enabled food to be cooked directly in the glass in an oven. Has 1 son. In 1952 Calvet filed a lawsuit accusing actress Zsa Zsa Gabor of slandering her in telling several people, including a newspaper columnist, that Calvet was not really French. Appeared in French radio and stage productions after WWII. Wrote a 1983 memoir, called "Has Corinne Been a Good Girl?" in which she said Hollywood studios put her in roles that never tapped her acting ability. In most of her American films she played the roles of French characters.
