Is Tom Delay Quitting 'dancing With The Stars'?
Is Tom DeLay Quitting 'Dancing with the Stars' tonight? Here's what he told ET... Despite warnings from both his physician and the producers, the former Republican House Majority Leader chose to perform last night after being diagnosed with a stress fracture in each of his feet. "It was a great, fun dance," he told ET special correspondent Marie Osmond. "My father taught me, I was raised in the oil field, and he taught me I could never quit ... at anything ... and I never have." Today, sources tell People magazine that on tonight's "Dancing with the Stars" results show, DeLay will announce that he is hanging up his dancing shoes. He told the magazine last night that he was paying the price for the performance. "They’re starting to tell me I shouldn't have done this," he said of his feet, which were encased in orthopedic booties after the show. "I ice them. I've got a bone stimulator machine that I put on them." Despite his bravado in ignoring his pain during Monday night's samba, he and partner Cheryl Burke only earned 15 points from the judges, although head judge Len Goodman praised him, saying, "Tom, I think you are a hero. If I had a stress fracture in both feet, I wouldn't be judging, much less dancing." "Dancing with the Stars" airs tonight at 9 p.m. on ABC.[Read full story on The Insider]
Tom Delay Forced To Hang Up His 'dancing' Shoes
After suffering stress fractures in both feet, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay will not be able to continue on "Dancing with the Stars." The former politician announced the news on Tuesday night's results show, saying that when he woke up this morning, his "feet were saying, 'What did you do last night?'" He sadly reported that he is unable to practice due to his injury, and said: "If you can't practice, you make a fool out of yourself out here, and I don't want to do that to [my partner] Cheryl [Burke]." Host Tom Bergeron invited DeLay to come back and do the Texas Two-Step in the finale, if his feet are up to it at that point. Bergeron also said that since it had already been announced earlier in the show that DeLay and Burke did not have the lowest score, the couple who did have the lowest score would still be sent home. Keep checking back here to find out which second couple goes home Tuesday night![Read full story on The Insider]

As the countdown continues toward the season premiere of "Dancing with the Stars," one of the first celeb contestants to be injured this season has come forward. Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay revealed via Twitter what kind of injury he sustained while rehearsing. DeLay tweeted Tuesday: "No stress fracture! It is a pre-stress fracture. I live for another day." The politician, who is partnered up with Cheryl Burke for the upcoming season of "DWTS," also tweeted: "Old age is catching up to me…No worries, it'll take more than that to keep me off the dance floor." Shawn Johnson Wins 'dancing With The Stars'!
Olympian Shawn Johnson and her pro partner Mark Ballas became newest championship duo of "Dancing with the Stars" on Tuesday night, triumphing over Gilles Marini with Cheryl Burke and Melissa Rycroft with Tony Dovolani in the season eight finale! Johnson, at 17 the youngest-ever competitor on "DWTS," was breathless from excitement while claiming the coveted mirrorball trophy. "This has been the best experience ever," she exhaled. After the judges' scores were combined with viewer votes to determine the winner, host Tom Bergeron declared the event "our closest-ever finale" -- with less than one percent difference separating champion Shawn from second-place finisher Gilles. For his part, the French actor was graceful in defeat, saying, "I'm so happy for Shawn and Mark. [Cheryl and I] love them so much." Former "Bachelor" star Melissa thanked the fans for their support after placing third. The three finalists each performed one last dance for a final judges' score, which was added to their scores from the previous evening's two dances. For their final routines, all three duos scored a perfect 30. Gilles and Cheryl mesmerized with the Argentine tango (finishing with 88 points out of 90); Shawn and Mark shook things up with cha cha cha (also for a total of 88 out of 90); and Melissa and Tony unleashed a sizzling samba (finishing with 86 out of 90). In another impacful turn of events, Anna Demidova secured her spot as a pro dancer on next season's "Dancing" cast. She edged out Mayo Alanen. Also on the finale, the entire season-eight cast -- including the likes of Steve-O, Denise Richards and Steve "the Woz" Wozniak -- all took one last spin on the dance floor. Plus, comedian and former contestant Jeffrey Ross roasted the gang, and Lady Gaga raised eye-brows performing a couple of her hits.[Read full story on The Insider]
'dancing With The Stars' Recap
"Dancing with the Stars" is back with 6 couples left, but one has to be benched for injury. Melissa Rycroft was sidelined after suffering from rib pain, but her rehearsal footage will still be shown for judgment to make it fair. Couples were dancing an unlearned routine in the previous weeks. Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke kicked it off with Lindy Hop. The type of dance requires a lot of lifts and the fact that Gilles suffered from a shoulder injury sometime ago, did not help during the rehearsals.

'dwts'' Gilles Marini On 'the Insider' Stage
Tonight, Gilles Marini will take to the ballroom floor for the quickstep on "Dancing with the Stars," but before the sexy Frenchman defends his first place position on the "Dancing" leader board, he is on "The Insider" stage with our Lara Spencer. "I really want to show the judges I can be classical," he says of his struggle this week to learn the classical frame necessary to score well when dancing the quickstep. "As soon as you get it, you don't move the frame, just your feet. I got to get there. Not to move my frame is the hardest thing." But it is also a lucky thing that he only needs to move his feet, because last week the 'Sex and the City: The Movie' hottie was dancing with a painful, separated shoulder. He says the quickstep will be easier on his arm -- once he gets it down. "The doctor said anything can happen," Gilles tells Lara. To alleviate Gilles' condition, the doctor injected him with cortisone and the "DWTS" competitor says he is going to follow the doctor's advice -- as well as that of his professional partner, Cheryl Burke. "Cheryl always tells me, 'Listen to your body,'" he explains. "We pushed a little bit too much." Tonight, Gilles' mother will be in the audience for his performance, and he says he wants to surprise her with his new moves. He, also, would like to surprise his 'Sex and the City' co-star, Kim Cattrall, with his new talent. "Hopefully, she will come to the show and I can show her some moves, because the moves on 'Sex and the City' were different." "Dancing with the Stars" airs tonight at 8 p.m. on ABC.[Read full story on The Insider]
Meet 'dancing With The Stars'' Sexy Frenchman
He steamed up the screen and had Samantha doing some heavy breathing in 'Sex and the City: The Movie,' now Gilles Marini is heading to "Dancing with the Stars" and "The Insider" looks at just why this Frenchman is so hot! "He has strong, big biceps and a nice firm butt, which, hopefully, he will be shaking a lot on Monday night," Gilles' professional partner, Cheryl Burke, not only tells "The Insider," but shows us with a home video. Between taking off all of his clothes for the movie and his rehearsals for "DWTS," Gilles says that dancing is the scarier of the two. "To make it to the end of the competition, we are telling everybody, as long as they vote for us, one piece of clothing will come off of his body," Cheryl jokes. "So if you want to see his beautiful body, you have to vote for us." But dancing isn't the only thing on Gilles' mind. He is also thinking green by driving the Eco-friendly Chevrolet Equinox Fuel-Cell Vehicle to get to rehearsals. It is such a clean-running vehicle that Gilles says, "You can put your face in the back of the car where the exhaust is and get a facial." Catch Cheryl and Gilles' first dance when "Dancing with the Stars" premieres Monday, March 9 at 8 p.m. on ABC.[Read full story on The Insider]

'dwts': Foxtrot Fever!
The heat is on with only five couples left on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars." Performing a grueling two new dances this evening -- including a 15-second solo dance – the competition was fierce on the dance floor once again. Get your recap here! "Hannah Montana" star Cody Lindley and his substitute partner Edyta Sliwinska were the first out of the gate with a fun Foxtrot which caught the judges by surprise. "Sophisticated, elegant -- your most grown-up performance yet," said Bruno Tonioli, who delivered a score of 8. "I was pleasantly surprised," agreed Len Goodman, who also gave an 8. "I thought you came out and did a really top-notch job." Carrie Anne Inaba was also pleased, but deducted a technical point from their score because Edyta's foot came up off the floor. Tough! With another 8, the couple had a total of 24. In their second dance, Cody and Edyta took on the Mambo to slightly less enthusiasm. "You definitely have the mambo fever -- it was a little spasmodic at times," said Bruno. Carrie Anne agreed, saying, "A for effort, A for energy, but it was a little erratic," while Len supportively offered, "I thought you've done two really good dances tonight. Well done." The top-rated couple on the show, Brooke Burke and Derek Hough had a tough standard to maintain while dancing the Tango, and while Bruno and Carrie Anne raved, Len was cranky in his assessment: "I'm afraid it was riddled with mistakes." But Bruno said they were "stunning" and Carrie Anne proclaimed, "That is why you are the last woman standing -- you are beyond phenomenal. It was pitch perfect." Both gave them a 10, while Len only allowed an 8, for a total of 28. For their second dance, the Mambo, the high score kept coming with nines from all three judges, but the criticism was sharp for Brooke and Derek. "It was so ambitious it got a little frantic at times," said Carrie Anne, while Len said, "I thought that was a very ambitious performance." Olympic sprinting champ Maurice Greene and his partner Cheryl Burke danced the Foxtrot to the strains of "Puttin' On the Ritz," and the judges cheered. Carrie Anne said, "I loved it! You just looked so refined out there," and gave them an 8. Len agreed with another 8, saying, "You flew around that floor -- you had great footwork; I thought you did a really good job." Bruno also gave up an 8, saying, "You kept it going all the way through with aplomb." With smiles on their faces, the couple danced away with a total of 24. For their Pasa Doble, Bruno proclaimed, "Strong, imposing, very powerful -- you're doing well tonight," and gave Maurice and Cheryl an 8. "It had attack, it had aggression. Well done," agreed Len, with another 8. "That was fantastic. I love that intensity," said Carrie Anne, delivering their third 8 for a total of 24. Next, former *NSYNC star Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer did their version of the Foxtrot to encouraging remarks from the panel. "You've cleaned up the act -- I thought you had some great elements in there. The overall theme I thought was very good," said Len, giving them an 8. "It was great -- I really, really enjoyed it," agreed Bruno, giving up a complimentary 9. Carrie was also feeling the love with a 9, saying, "You are truly a bright light." But for their second dance with Lance's 15-second solo work, Len said, "I would have liked to have seen a samba flavor to it. You must work on your footwork." He gave them a 7. Carrie gave up an 8 and said, "I think you really did a good job," but had a problem with Lance's eyeline being too high. Bruno was the most impressed, giving the couple a 9 and saying, "You owned the audience. Great job." The last couple of evening, football great Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson, did the Tango. Despite Kym's suffering an injury to her shoulder, the two killed on the dance floor -- and Warren finally knew what it felt like to score a 10! "Watch out James Bond, Warren Sapp is back and he does a mean Tango," said Bruno. "Last week a flop, this week on top. You're in it now," agreed Len, while Carrie said, "You connect with the audience and you make us feel like we're in the number." Warren and Kym's second dance -- in which Warren tried to show off some fancy footwork in his 15-second solo -- had a less-than-enthusiastic reception. "Everybody loved watching you, but the feet were very flat," said Bruno, but he still gave them a 9. "You epitomize the saying, 'I can dance with joy,'" said Len, giving them an 8, while Carrie Anne joked, "What amazes me is how your feet kept going," but added, "I loved all your energy. Great job on the choreography." She gave them a 9 for a total score of 26. Watch "The Insider" for all the highlights of Monday night's competition![Read full story on The Insider]
Jennifer Love Hewitt Defends Cheryl Burke's Weight
Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt has leaped to the defense of dancer Cheryl Burke after the U.S. media poked fun at her weight gain. 'dwts' Celebs Shine With Samba, Tango
Monday night's "Dancing with the Stars" upped the ante as many of the celebs sparkled with their sultry sambas and tenacious tangos! Cheryl Burke and Maurice Greene opened the show with their disco-inspired samba, to a score of 20. Combined with last week’s score, they got a 44/60. Bruno crowed, “It’s Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Brown,” but went on more soberly, “You’ve gone all ghetto fabulous but the samba was not so fabulous.” Carrie Ann cautioned, “This competition is about growing each week … I don’t feel that’s happening.” Julianne Hough and Cody Linley were up next with their tango, which scored a 23. Bruno told Cody, “It looks like you’re starting to find your mojo,” while Carrie Ann thought he made a “great effort.” Len thought it was his best dance so far, saying, “The little boy has turned into the boy wonder tonight.” Toni Braxton and Alec Mazo strutted their samba to a score of 22. All three judges ed on some mistakes, but Bruno said, “For me you’re like a tasty morsel of sugar and spice ... I can’t wait to have some more. Shame about the mistake, but I really liked all the rest very much.” Cloris Leachman and Corky Ballas’ triumphant tango scored a 22 -- and a standing ovation! Len enthused, “If I hadn’t seen it I wouldn’t have believed it. It was absolutely fabulous and I loved it!” Bruno said with his usual good humor, “Cloris, the grandma from hell has become the grand duchess of lust!” Carrie Ann, for her part, said, “I owe you an apology. … I underestimated you.” Rocco DiSpirito and Karina Smirnoff danced a samba to a score of 18. Bruno was harsh with his criticism: "I like you very much, but all the ruffles in the world cannot disguise the fact that you haven’t got a musical bone in your body. My accountant could do a better samba!” Carrie Ann agreed: “The dancing is still lacking.” Len, however, said, “You were very good because you did what your mom told you -- you came out and had fun, well done.” Susan Lucci and Tony Dovolani tango-ed their way to their best score this season -- 24. Carrie Ann said, “That was what I have been waiting for!” Len thought it was her best dance so far, saying, “There was nothing timid about that performance.” Bruno cried, “I always knew that under that polished appearance there was a tough broad and you showed it tonight -- way to go!” Brooke Burke and Derek Hough were out next with their smoking samba, which scored a 26. Bruno said, “A sex bomb has hit this building, take cover. This was raunchy with a capital R." Len, however, felt differently, “For me, it was slightly too erotic as a dance.” Carrie Ann called Brooke a “perfect candidate to maybe go all the way.” Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer danced the tango to a score of 26! Bruno complimented the pair: “Quirky with a gothic twist and yet always a tango. … You’ve got what it takes to get to the final.” Carrie Ann called their performance “amazing,” while Len dubbed Lance “Sir Dance-a-Lot.” Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson were up last with their samba, which scored a 22. Carrie Ann, said, “You crack me up. You make me laugh,” but added, “This week I felt like it was lacking a hair of content.” Len thought there was “too much gyrating,” but did concede, “You make me smile because you’re just a joy to watch.” Bruno ed, “You really are the big easy, the crowd pleaser,” but said, “You took it a little too easy.” Due to Olympic volleyball gold medalist Misty May-Treanor leaving the competition early last week because of an injured Achilles tendon, this week's scores and audience votes will be added to last week's scores and audience votes to determine who will go home Tuesday night.[Read full story on The Insider]
