'america's Next Top Model' Crowns New Queen Of The Runway
Tyra Banks revealed the winner of "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 15 on Wednesday night -- was it blonde bombshell Chelsey or brunette beauty Ann? Read on for a spoiler-filled recap! Although Chelsey impressed the judges with her commercial good looks, they found Ann's look to be more editorial, and ultimately gave the title to 6'2" Dallas student Ann. A tearful Ann said she felt "honored" by the win and couldn't even believe it, cherishing her win after suffering " about being too tall or being just not normal." Chelsey, for her part, had no great love for the victor, saying bitterly, "I feel cheated, I feel I have the whole package… and I don't think Ann does." Earlier in the episode, the ladies battled it out in a photoshoot in the Italian countryside, as well as a Cover Girl commercial and beauty shoot. Before they took the stage for a Roberto Cavalli Just Cavalli runway show in Milan, the women reflected on the competition. Chelsey proclaimed, "I'm inches away from being 'America's Next Top Model.' I can't imagine not winning." Meanwhile, Ann pondered, "If I win 'America's Next Top Model,' I hope I can inspire everyone who's been picked on." The judges critiqued their runway walks, and neither escaped unscathed. Judge Nigel Barker said Chelsey's walk was "a tad fast and a little stiff," while judge Andre Leon Talley said of Chelsey, "No snap, no crackle, and no pop." Tyra said that Ann's eyes were "a little zombie" while she walked the runway and Andre said he would rate her a B-. But in the end, despite Chelsey's certainty that she would win, it was the more demure Ann who walked away with the prizes: a contract with IMG models, a cover and spread in Beauty in Vogue, a spread in Italian Vogue and a feature on Vogue.IT, and a $100,000 contract with Cover Girl cosmetics.[Read full story on The Insider]

'america's Next Top Model''s Esther Says No To A Breast Reduction
"America's Next Top Model" tested the model hopefuls for personality on Wednesday night's episode and Tyra Banks declared that Esther was found wanting. She said that Esther was a beautiful, curvy model, but she wasn't right for commercials. Now "The Insider" talks to the 18-year-old from Boston, MA, who was also criticized for having large breasts, and she revealed what a professional model said to her about having a reduction. "The Insider": How hard was it to get this far and then to be sent home because Tyra said the judges felt you didn't show your personality enough? Esther: It is hard, but it is hard for every girl who goes home. I went in thinking I would be one of the first two to go. I went in thinking, "It is really cool that I made it this far. I am really proud of myself. But let’s be real. There are girls here that have been modeling since they were 13 years old. I have not." I have never been modeling. I had never been to real photo shoot. I had to go buy shoes at Marshall's for this. I think we can guess that the girl who used her babysitting money to buy heels for "Top Model" is going to be the first or second to go home. Finally, I was, "I should be here. I am earning my spot." "The Insider": What did you think about the bitchy models after the Zac Posen fashion show was over and you found out it was a put on? Did you suspect that it was a test? Did you get to talk to them afterwards? Esther: Miss J told us the night before that we were going to be working with real models and something to the effect of: "Sometimes they won't be nice, will they now?" I was, "OK, Miss J. You can just tell us they are going to be rude to us." Other girls would get all angry and upset. I was, "Look. You knew this was coming. There is no reason to get upset." I did talk to [one of the girls] after the show. She told me how hard it would be for me to get work because of my chest and nowadays models don't really have one to be honest. She said, "Look. I was a 32DD and they made me get a breast reduction. Now I am an A or a B. Please never, never get a breast reduction for modeling. If there is one thing that you don't do, don't change your body. Your body is beautiful. Girls see this at home and they see your boobs and that you are out there doing model. You are just like the other girls. You are fitting into Zac Posen runway clothes." She was, 'Don't let modeling overtake you.' That was amazing of her. That made my day. "The Insider": Will you continue modeling? Esther: I definitely want to keep at it. "The Insider": Talk a little about how difficult it was to keep kosher. You might have found kosher food, but they didn't have kosher dishes? Esther: There is a lot more involved in keeping kosher than just having the right food. It wasn't that hard once I decided I was going to do it. We had a weekly allowance. With the weekly allowance, I bought myself a pan so I could make myself food. I bought plastic dishes and plastic place settings. "The Insider": What does your family think of your career choice, especially because you did a bathing suit shoot? Esther: I come from a community in Boston where we keep Shabbat and we keep kosher, but as far as modesty laws go, we wear pants and we wear tank tops and things like that. I know that is less strict than a lot of people. I will admit, it was weird being on TV. "The Insider": What was your favorite photo shoot and why? Esther: I have to go with Patrick Demarchelier. There were a couple of photo shots: Patrick Demarchelier because I was working with Patrick Demarchelier! That was just crazy. Also, I really loved the Matthew Rolston underwater, mermaid goddesses. I thought that was a great concept. I thought the pictures that came from it were beautifully done. "The Insider": Who do you think will walk away with the title? Esther: I think Ann, of course, got five best pictures in a row. Jane has been improving, Kayla has been sneakily under the radar for a really long time. Chelsey has been solid and strong. Chris and Liz have a lot of personality, which the judges love. "The Insider": What did the girls think when Kayla revealed she had been sexually assaulted as a child? Esther: I haven't seen the episode yet, so I don't know what they showed, but the other girls were, "That sucks. There was nothing you could do about it because you were a child." I think we all thought it was a terrible thing that shouldn't have happened. "America's Next Top Model" airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. on The CW.[Read full story on The Insider]
Ousted 'america's Next Top Model' Kacey: I Rubbed The Girls The Wrong Way
Another hopeful went down for the count on Wednesday night's "America's Next Top Model" when Kacey was cut from the competition after failing to connect during her photo shoot with famed photographer Patrick Demarchelier. "The Insider" talks to the 20-year-old from Palmdale, CA about her shock at being eliminated and why she didn't get along with the other girls in the house. "The Insider": It is really unusual for the person who wins a challenge to go home. Since you had won the CoverGirl® challenge, did you think you were safe going into the judging? Kacey: I was very surprised. The photo shoot wasn't my best, but I thought I could fall back on winning the challenge. For me to still go home and for me to still be dubbed the best one for that challenge, I was [stunned]. "The Insider": You said, "I'm never going to get over this," but you must have by now? Kacey: You get over things. Life still goes on. At that moment, I couldn't think of anything past that point. I didn't have my mind set on going home. I was so hurt. "The Insider": When you enter a competition like this, everyone but one person goes home before the end. How did you approach it? Kacey: For myself personally, I just saw myself staying longer in the competition. The reality is only one person is going to win. At the same time, my goal wasn't to go home so early. Of course, I am proud of myself and I did go pretty far, but at the same time, I didn't expect to go so early. There were things I didn't get to do. "The Insider": Like what? Kacey: I have been watching since season one. My favorite thing to do was the CoverGirl shoot toward the end when there are only three girls left and they do a shoot for a CoverGirl commercial. I never got to do that. That is what I was hoping for. "The Insider": The fact that the Walmart® shoppers gave you the highest score on the CoverGirl presentation challenge, does that make you think maybe you should go more for TV commercials where your personality is important rather than high fashion? Kacey: For me, it just shows that I am diverse. I can do different things. I feel when it comes to photo shoots, it might be my weaker area, but I still feel like I can excel in that. When it comes to commercials, I have learned that that is my stronger area. For me, I look at it as being a well-rounded model. I can do a lot of different things. "The Insider": Are you going to continue modeling? Kacey: I am lucky enough to be in an area like L.A. because a lot of things go down in L.A. I am going to take my pictures and live on the hype. I didn't win "Top Model," but it is a big platform for me. I am going to take it and run. "The Insider": What did you think of Tyra's that you were disconnected? Kacey: I think the only thing I took out of that was being disconnected by the expression on my face. It just wasn't a spark, like André Leon Talley would say. Being on "ANTM," there is so much direction going on, there is so much criticism going on, you have to really pick and choose what is right for you, as opposed to taking it all in and applying it to you. You can't do that. You have to listen to everything, but pick what is best for you. I forgot to do that. I tried to do too much and I forgot what makes Kacey as a model. "The Insider": Why do you think you had trouble getting along with the other girls in the house? Kacey: The way I look at is I am a solo person. I don't mind being by myself. I can entertain myself. I don't need to have a circle of friends around me to be content. I am an independent person. I guess that alone rubbed them the wrong way, knowing that I didn't need a companion in the house. I was actually cool being by myself. Maybe that came off as "she doesn't care," or "she just thinks she is it." They read it so wrong. Other than that, I don't know why they disrespected me so much. I tried to turn that into a positive and just have that be fuel to my fire. "The Insider": What's next? Kacey: I am actually chillin' now. I definitely want to be more comfortable so when I get out there I can be more comfortable being in front of the camera and doing the photo shoots. As far as commercials, I am definitely going on auditions because I am in the L.A. area, so it is easy for me to look up stuff and say, "It is in L.A. Bam! Let me go." That is what I have been doing. "America's Next Top Model" airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.[Read full story on The Insider]
Ousted 'america's Next Top Model' Lexie On Her Feud With Kacey
Ousted 'America's Next Top Model' Lexie On Her Feud with Kacey This week's casualty on "America's Next Top Model" was Lexie, who just couldn't capture the necessary emotion in the Lucha Va Voom challenge. Now "The Insider" talks to the 18-year-old from Geneva, IL about her famous feud with fellow model hopeful Kacey and the conveyor belt walk-off. THE INSIDER: How disappointed were you to be going home before Kacey? You guys seemed to have a little bit of a feud going on. Lexie: I wouldn't say disappointed. I just don't understand, but it is not a big deal to me. I didn't really dwell on that that much. THE INSIDER: Do you think your feud with her kept you from focusing as much as you needed to stay in the competition? Lexie: That was clever editing. I really didn't think about Kacey that often. They just played me talking about her often. THE INSIDER: I thought you did a great job on the conveyor belt. How frustrating was it to not to win it. Lexie: I will admit, I was very frustrated I didn't win. I am very honest with myself and others. I didn't deserve to win the whole competition. I deserved to win that damn conveyor belt runway. It was very, very difficult. That was underplayed if anything. That was very difficult. We went on it twice. The first time, it was a surprise. But knowing you had to go back and do it again, that killed me. I was actually scared. THE INSIDER: Is there something in your life that made it easier for you than the other girls? Lexie: When we saw the footage when we were with Miss. J. deciding who the winner was, people were, "Do you have a conveyor belt runway you practice on at home?" I don't think anything can really prepare you for that. I said I had been on treadmills before, but a lot of girls have been on treadmills. I don't think you can do that. I don't know how I didn't fall. THE INSIDER: Tyra said you have a big personality but it wasn't showing up in pictures. Did she give you any advice on how to work on that? Lexie: No, she just said work on it. One thing I am doing when I do test shoots, I try to call the shots more on what the premise of the shoot is and I want photo shoots that show my personality. I don't really know what she was talking about to be honest, so I don't know how to work on it. THE INSIDER: Will you still pursue a modeling career? Lexie: I do, but not to a huge extent. I don't want my whole life to revolve around the industry. I definitely want to focus on acting more. THE INSIDER: Have you taken acting lessons? Lexie: Back in the day. I plan on taking some more in the future in Chicago. THE INSIDER: Which was your favorite photo shoot and why? Lexie: My favorite photo shoot was Matthew Rolston, because working with him was absolutely incredible. He is such a great person. I like how the photos turned out. I don't think anybody had a bad shot. I think everyone looked good and we could thank Matthew for that. THE INSIDER: What did you learn about yourself from participating on "Top Model"? Lexie: It just solidified the fact that I am obnoxious. (laughs) I knew that. I learned that I am not as competitive as I thought I was. I am competitive when it comes to sports or games. When it came to the competition, I was more there just to be there. I wanted to win but it wasn't do or die. It wasn't that big of a deal for me, which, I guess, it is good I got eliminated, so some girl who really, really wants it can take the title. I just kept telling myself, like when we went to auditions, "I would love just to be on casting week. That would be so amazing." Then I got to casting week and I was, "I wish I could make it to the first episode." Then, I made it into the house and I made it kind of far. THE INSIDER: Karolina Kurkova came in and talked to you girls about being healthy. What did you and the other girls thing of Anamaria who was sent home because she was too skinny? Lexie: I think that was a good call for the judges, definitely. I found this season dealing with fans and stuff that some people really idolize the girls who are on TV. And to idolize someone who isn't healthy, I don't think that is the best message to be putting out there. I think that was a good call even though I still got told I didn't have a good body. "America's Next Top Model" airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.[Read full story on The Insider]
Video: Models Take Wobbly Walk Down Runway; Learn How To Eat
In new clips from "America's Next Top Model" the ladies strut their stuff down a precarious runway featuring a conveyor belt! Then, supermodel Karolina Kurkova teaches the crew how to eat properly. First up, one model wobbles her way off the runway, but pulls herself together, explaining later, "I got on there and my shoe just fell right off, but I [was still] smiling though!" Next, another says of her experience, "I [walked] on to the conveyor belt and it [jerked] me forward but I [kept] my composure pretty well." Supermodel Karolina Kurkova also makes an appearance in the episode, tutoring the young women about the importance of healthy eating. She brings in a basket of vegetables and fruits and whips up a fresh smoothie. One of the model contenders confesses that she likes to eat fried Oreos, while another says of 26-year-old Kurkova, "Her skin was perfect and she looks younger than all of us because she takes such good care of herself." Tune in to the next episode of "America's Next Top Model" on Wednesday night on The CW.[Read full story on The Insider]
'america's Next Top Model' Rhianna: I Could Have Been More Dramatic
It was a real roller coaster ride on Wednesday night's "America's Next Top Model" when the aspiring models were taken to Knott's Berry Farm to ride a 140-foot high, thrill-a-minute ride and were asked to pose while on it. Then, they were photographed as gorgeous mermaids by Matthew Rolston, who was also this week's guest judge. Rhianna survived the roller coaster, but after the judges conferred, she was out. Now, "The Insider" talks to the ousted model about her time on the show and her plans going forward. "The Insider": Do you think there was something you could have done different that would have kept you in the competition when you look back at it? Rhianna: I guess been more dramatic. I didn't have much to say that captured their attention. "The Insider": You seemed to have had a very positive attitude about all the challenges. Didn't that count for anything? Rhianna: I was in a dream world the whole time it seemed like. It seemed like everyone was somewhat not in their element and I was completely enthralled with all of the things I had around me. "The Insider": There was some concern that your look might be limited. What are your thoughts about that? Rhianna: I think that is just one of many [opinions] that might be expressed about the way I look, but it doesn't really matter to me. I take all the constructive criticism I can, but telling me I am not versatile is not helpful. It is just an opinion. I definitely take it in hand, but I definitely don't agree. "The Insider": Will you continue to pursue modeling? Rhianna: Oh, yeah. This is the first step off to a new land of happiness and traveling and meeting amazing people. It is a dream job. "The Insider": You get to keep your photos from the show, so it makes a nice portfolio for you to start with. Have you met with any agencies yet? Rhianna: I am still owned by the agency that is on the show for like a week. I can't really go agency hunting for like a week. "The Insider": Which was your favorite photo shoot and why? Rhianna: My favorite photo shoot was the fallen angels because we were at the beach and it was a gorgeous day and there were so many amazing visual … we had so much visual stimulation, it was almost impossible for me to take it into a place where I couldn't make a good photo. And the male models were super hot. I was just lovin' it. "The Insider": What do you think of what happened at the "Top Model" live show in Australia when the wrong girl was named the winner? Rhianna: That was so bad. I felt so bad for that girl. Oh, my God. To be that announcer. I would have died. "The Insider": I think she was fed the wrong name… Rhianna: I know, but to have to say : "I am sorry I messed up." Tyra Banks: 'we Truly Apologize' For Anger Over 'top Model' Promo
Tyra Banks is reacting to a controversial trailer released last week to promote Cycle 15 of "America's Next Top Model." The trailer features a contestant named Ann, a six-foot-two-inch model hopeful who shows the judges her remarkably small waist, leaving them in awe. In the trailer, Banks says, "There's something about her that I like." And another judge, Miss J. Alexander, successfully wraps Ann's entire waist with his two hands. Banks said on Monday that she did not see the trailer before it went public and apologized, releasing the following statement to "The Insider": "In an effort to create a fun and entertaining sneak peak of the upcoming cycle, 'America's Next Top Model' released a trailer that was edited in way that misconstrued our overarching message. As a leader in celebrating and promoting healthy body image, I must admit that I regrettably didn’t see this clip before it was released to the public, (with multiple 'Top Model' departments, it's just impossible to review everything) but on behalf of the 'Top Model' team, these were not the intentions, and we truly apologize for any confusion, anger or disappointment it may have caused." She went on to say in the statement, "The passionate response the trailer has evoked proves that the message to promote and celebrate all different - healthy and natural – body types has resonated with our viewers and I’m so proud of every one of you who voiced your opinion and participated in this conversation. "I have experienced body image scrutiny from one extreme to the next ... Driven by these personal experiences, I am committed to expanding the definition of beauty which includes ALL shapes, sizes and proportions, from skinny to curvy and everything in between. It’s about women telling the world to KISS their – skinny, wide, droopy, flat, cellulite-covered or FAT – you know what! ... During this season of Top Model, you will see that Ann (the woman featured in the trailer) provided another opportunity for me to support a young woman struggling with her own body image issues (she's 6'2" and is the receiver of countless stares and ridicule). Helping young ladies, like Ann and countless others that have confided in me, furthers and supports my core mission." Cycle 15 of "America's Next Top Model" premieres September 8 at 8 p.m. on The CW.[Read full story on The Insider]
'top Model''s Krista Comes Out On Top With $100,000 Contract
There is a new queen of the runway. The latest high fashion royalty is Krista, who won CW's "America's Next Top Model." The 25 year-old from Pine Bluff, Arkansas joyously reacted to Tyra Banks' announcement by saying, "I'm glad that it's somebody like me that other people can look up to and see that she made it, she didn't give up..." The final four competed in a mile high challenge, while en route to Queenstown, New Zealand. Once back on steady ground, Angelea and Alexandra were eliminated after they didn't get "ugly pretty" enough in a photo shoot. Top two Raina and Krista were easy, breezy, beautiful Covergirls for a commercial to promote the cosmetics line. Then, they were seventeen again as real cover girls for a Seventeen magazine shoot. Plus, Tyra surprised the girls with family portraits, complete with special visitors--their parents--who got to strike a pose alongside their stunning daughters. For the grand finale, Raina and Krista rocked the runway for an Anna Sui fashion show. Previously eliminated contestants also got a chance to strut their stuff one last time on the catwalk, alongside cycle 13 winner Nicole. Who was the ringleader of the three ring circus inspired show? Krista came out on top, taking the title. Meanwhile, Raina didn't twinkle like the star she hoped to be. The winner of Cycle 14 will be managed by Wilhelmina Models, receive a $100,000 contract with cosmetics giant CoverGirl, and appear on the cover and in a six-page fashion spread of Seventeen magazine.[Read full story on The Insider]
