TMZ has learned just how Justin Bieber surprised GF Selena Gomez with an intimate dinner and a movie for 2 at the otherwise empty Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

We broke the story ... Justin and Selena attended a Demi Lovato concert Friday night at the nearby Nokia Theater.  After the show, just after 11 PM, Justin instructed Selena, "Follow me," and then took her through the underground tunnel that connects Nokia to Staples.

When they walked inside the empty, 20,000 seat arena, the lights had been dimmed and there was a table for 2 on the floor, with candles ... of course.

We're told Justin had the fancy Staples restaurant -- The Lexus Club -- cater the meal.  They ate steak and pasta, and when they were done, suddenly the movie "Titanic" appeared on the screen.

Justin got the idea from the movie, "Mr. Deeds," where Adam Sandler surprises Winona Ryder with a date at Madison Square Garden.

Selena was "shocked" when she realized what was up.

As for Justin ... he didn't have to pay a penny, because the honchos at Staples were grateful he filled the arena 3 times in the past.

Justin Bieber will almost certainly get lucky tonight ... because TMZ has learned he just surprised girlfriend Selena Gomez with the most romantic surprise ever.

He's corralled the entire Staples Center in L.A. for a screening of the movie "Titanic" ... just for the two of them.

Sources connected to the Biebs tell us .. Justin hatched the idea after seeing the movie "Mr. Deeds" -- where Adam Sandler surprises Winona Ryder with a date at Madison Square Garden.

Here's how it went down tonight ... Justin took Selena to the Demi Lovato concert at neighboring Nokia Theater. He then said, "Come with me" -- and took her underground to Staples Center to watch the biggest shipwreck of all time.

And if you don't hate him enough already -- Justin didn't have to pay a penny for Staples. We're told since he sold out the venue three times, and it was empty tonight ... they gave him the entire arena for free.

Baller.

Two members of the West Memphis 3 will be released from an Arkansas prison after "admitting guilt" in the deaths of 3 Boy Scouts back in 1993 ... this according to local reports.

The WM3 -- comprised of Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin -- were each sentenced to life in prison for the killings of Stevie Branch, Michael Moore, and Christopher Byers -- whose mutilated bodies were found in a wooded area in West Memphis, Arkansas in May 1993.

For years, Echols, Misskelley and Baldwin have claimed they were 100% innocent of any crime -- and their plight caught the attention of HUGE Hollywood stars like Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder ... who rallied for their release from prison.

There have been several documentaries made about the case ... most of which suggest the men may not have committed the murders.

But now, according to WREG-TV, two of the men -- one of whom is reported to be Echols -- have apparently changed their tune in exchange for their release from prison ... though it's unclear when the men will be released.

It's also unclear WHY the men would be released if they're confessing to such a heinous crime.




2:52 PM: TMZ spoke with a rep for John Mark Byers -- a step-father of one of the victims who was also portrayed as a suspect in the documentary, "Paradise Lost."

The rep tells us John will "definitely" be in court tomorrow -- but calls the situation a "double-edged sword" because "even though they should never have been arrested, a murderer is getting the last laugh."

The 'Black Swan' actress had an encounter with the disgraced Hollywood star some years ago at a party where he made offensive jokes about gay people and Jews.
"No one believed me!" Winona Ryder told GQ magazine, referring to 15 years ago when she made claims that Mel Gibson was saying less than flattering things about the Jewish community and homosexuals. She recalled running into the actor/director, telling the magazine, "I remember, like, fifteen years ago, I was at one of those big Hollywood parties. And he was really drunk. I was with my friend, who's gay. He made a really horrible gay joke." The 'Black Swan' actress also claims that Gibson also made a dig at her, saying, "And somehow it came up that I was Jewish. He said something about 'oven dodgers,' but I didn't get it. I'd never heard that before. It was just this weird, weird moment." Ryder added, "I was like, 'He's anti-Semitic and he's homophobic.' No one believed me!" Over the summer, audio recordings were released by Radar Online of Gibson leaving profanity laden voice mails to his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child, Oksana Grigorieva.
