Actress Tatum O'Neal -- who was arrested in June of this year for trying to buy cocaine -- speaks out to "The Insider" about her father and half-brother's recent arrest for drug possession. "Addiction, if untreated, can lead to jail, institutions and death. I love them both and I am sorry to hear about this," Tatum said. "The Insider" confirmed yesterday that actor Ryan O'Neal and his son Redmond were arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession after Redmond's probation search at the actor's Malibu home. Deputies found Redmond O'Neal, 23, in possession of methamphetamine, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore, adding that the drug was also found in Ryan's room. The father and son were released on bail yesterday.

AFP - A New York judge on Wednesday sentenced former child movie star Tatum O'Neal -- arrested in early June for trying to buy crack cocaine -- to two days treatment and a 95 dollar fine, local news media reported.
"The Insider" has the latest... Tatum O'Neal has pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in connection with her arrest last month for alleged drug possession. Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Elisa Koenderman ordered O'Neal to spend two half-day sessions in a drug treatment program and pay a $95 fee. If she complies, she will get a conditional discharge and the conviction will be erased if she stays out of trouble for one year.  The Oscar-winning actress, daughter of actor Ryan O'Neal, was arrested June 1 on suspicion of buying cocaine on a Manhattan street. She was the youngest person ever to win an Academy Award for 'Paper Moon' in 1973 at age 10.  O'Neal has struggled with drugs in the past but said in an interview shortly after her arrest that she had recently been sober. "Just when I was about to change that and wreck my life, the cops came and saved me."
