Sarah Chalke was born on 27 August 1976, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Her parents are Angie and Doug Chalke. She is the middle child, having one older sister, and one younger. Sarah made her debut in acting, in a made-for-TV movie City Boy. In 1993, after her first film, she auditioned for the role of Becky on the TV series Roseanne. The show was looking for a replacement after Alicia Goranson quit the show to go to college. Sarah graduated from High School in 1995, while shooting the 1994-1995 season of Roseanne. Also in 1994, Sarah co-starred in the film Ernest Goes to School along with Jim Varney. Then in 1996, she starred in 2 films, including Robin of Locksley, and also Moment of Truth: Stand Against Fear, where she played a cheerleader, Krista Wilson. In 1998, a year after Roseanne ended, Sarah was asked to act in a show called Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy. The show was based on the TV movie with the same name, which Sarah was also in.



Took over the role of Becky on "Roseanne" (1988) from Alicia Goranson in 1993. Played older sister of Sara Gilbert on "Roseanne" (1988), but is younger in real life. [1993-1997] Appeared in local Vancouver theater productions, at age 8. She volunteers at a hospice for terminally ill children and works for the Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund. Her father is a lawyer and both her parents are mediators who also run a child adoption agency. Two years ago, she accompanied her parents to China to coordinate the adoption of several orphans there. Sarah grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia. Played Markie Post's daughter in the horror film I've Been Waiting for You (1998) (TV) and Post also plays her mom as a guest star on Sarah's sitcom, "Scrubs" (2001). When she was a few credits short of a college degree, she decided to commit to acting full time. Has a younger sister named Piper Chalke. Engaged to entertainment lawyer, Jamie Afifi. [December 2006] Her first on-camera kiss was in the 1992 movie City Boy (1992) (TV), shot at Lighthouse Park in Vancouver. She became a naturalized American citizen in April 2008. Can write with her toes. Best health habit is wearing sunscreen every day. Lost her aunt to melanoma and her grandmother to cancer.
