Samantha Morton is a survivor. Unlike some of her more privileged peers, this Nottingham native overcame a harsh childhood spent in foster homes and orphanages to become one of Britain’s finest actresses. "I want to prove that you don't have to come from Oxford University or RADA -- and you don't have to have parents that support you -- to succeed," she says. Born and raised in Nottingham, England, Samantha first wowed American audiences with her Oscar-nominated role in Sweet and Lowdown (1999). She has since starred in Minority Report (2002) and The Libertine (2004).
