Graduated from Sedona Red Rock High School; played volleyball for two years before turning her attention to drama. Was cast in almost all of her high school productions after she got into acting. Enrolled at the University of Arizona for a year to major in costume design and theater but left after a year. Dated Aaron Paul. Was born in Japan and lived there for several years (learning judo in the process) before moving to Hawaii and later Arizona. Her name is pronounced Sah-mee-rah Her parents initially pronounced her name "Sam-air" for 3 months until they were taught how to pronounce it in its proper Gaelic form Has her own fashion label, NARU. Name means 'dawning sun' in Gaelic. Named #55 on the Maxim magazine Hot 100 of 2005 list. Was the October 2007 entry in Stuff magazine's 2006-2007 pin up calendar. Has entered an outpatient facility due to "personal issues", but will continue to work on her TV series, Dirty Sexy Money [October 12, 2007]. Attended the University of Arizona with actress Heather Blair and basketball player Luke Walton.
