Rain suffered from drug abuse for many years, but got herself clean in 1993. She has since acted as an addiction counselor and spoke at high schools about her past battles with drugs and alcohol addiction. Daughter of Richard Pryor and Shelley R. Bonus, astronomer/writer. Just finished a highly successful four month run of her one-woman experience, "Fried Chicken & Latkes," at the Canon Theater in Beverly Hills, California--to standing ovations every night! She wrote, created, and co-produced her show, including adding some of her own original music and lyrics to the production. [2004] She is currently working on an album of Standards that is to be released by the end of 2004. Was in rehearsals for her one-woman experience, said to open in New York by fall 2004. The show is based on the life of the actress. It's a hero's journey from the standpoint of a person born into a world of "US vs. Them"--but not quite an "us" and not quite a "them." Went to the same High School as Angelina Jolie, Michael Klesic, Nicolas Cage, Corbin Bernsen, Lenny Kravitz, David Schwimmer, Breckin Meyer, Jonathan Silverman, and Richard Dreyfuss. Her maternal grandfather, Herbert Bonis, was Danny Kaye's manager for 35 years. Stepdaughter of Jennifer Lee.
