Ninel's celebrity status has been solidified in Mexico for some time now, as she has appeared in numerous limited running television serials, known as “telenovelas,” as well as several regular television shows. In 2003, Ninel branched out into the music industry, as she released a self-titled debut album. Up until recently, Ninel was been relatively unknown in North America. That all changed in the fall of 2006, when she appeared on the ABC comedy Ugly Betty.
Has a daughter named Sofía. Is also a model. In March 2004, she participated in the 3rd edition of the Mexican reality show Big Brother VIP, and became the 7th person voted out after being locked up for 43 days. She studied acting in the "Centro de Arte y Teatro Emilia Carranza" and in the Sergio Jimenez y Rene Pereira Acting Studios.
