Nana is the daughter of dancers, choreographer Robert Tucker and ballet teacher Nenette Charisse On October 28 1995, she received the Best Supporting Actress in a Genre Television Series honor from the the Sci-Fi Universe Readers' Choice Universe awards. Son, Django El Tahir El Siddig, born 16 September 1996, was named for Django Reinhardt, a jazz musician. DS9 co-star Alexander Siddig is Django Siddig's father. Son, Buster, is from a previous marriage Niece, by marriage, of actress-dancer Cyd Charisse. She was accepted at Princeton but kept deferring and didn't go. Sister of actor Ian Tucker and actress Zan Charisse. Gave birth to her son, Django El Tahir El Siddig, during the filming of the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Let He Who Is Without Sin...". Not surprisingly, she did not appear in that episode. Niece of Nico Charise. Admitted claustrophobic. Had a hard time filming the DS9 episode "Second Skin" in which her character, Kira Nerys, appeared as a Cardassian because of the full rubber makeup she had to wear. Went back to work on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine two weeks after her son, Django, was born. Fellow Star Trek: Deep Space Nine cast member, Andrew Robinson, is the godfather of Nana's son, Django. Occasionally, on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, she was the computer voice on DS9. Currently lives in New Mexico with her two sons while her husband "commutes" between New Mexico and Las Vegas, where he works.
