Melissa McCarthy is taking part in a new fitness craze -- and "The Insider" is with the "Samantha Who?" star to find out what Piloxing™ is all about! Melissa, who plays Dena on "Samantha Who?," is proof that you don't have to be a size zero to work in Hollywood. That said, it doesn't mean that she doesn't want to be healthy. "There is a lot of pressure to compete," she tells "The Insider." You want people to be healthy. Too thin is too scary. I am always trying to be healthy." Back in her New York days, Melissa says she was a size six and she was still told that she would never work because of her weight. She never got discouraged. And now she has been a series regular on both "Gilmore Girls" and "Samantha Who?" On May 5, 2007, she gave birth to a daughter, Vivian Falcone, who she says "changed everything." But with a bad back and spinal damange, Melissa tells "The Insider" that she couldn't stay alone with her daughter because she was afraid that if she had a spasm, she couldn't care for the baby. So, for the past year, she has been working with Swedish trainer Viveca Jensen, who teaches Piloxing, a creative mix between Pilates and boxing, using weighted gloves, geared towards women. Viveca told Melissa that she couldn't fix her back, but she could make all her muscles stronger, which would help. A side bonus is Melissa has shed 30 pounds. "I think Piloxing and doing Pilates with Viveca has changed my life," Melissa says. "I have never felt better. I still want to lose weight, but I feel strong in my body. Piloxing is the craziest, strangely delightful thing I have done." "Samantha Who?" airs tonight at 8:30 p.m. on ABC.[Read full story on The Insider]
