Majandra Delfino Biography
Majandra Delfino possesses talents from singing to acting to dancing to painting to playing the guitar, piano, and cello. Her acting career began in 1995, when she was 14 years old and living in Miami, Florida. She was granted a six month window by her mother to book an acting gig (a seemingly impossible task in a city with almost no theater or film production). Within three of those six months she was handpicked to star alongside Kathleen Quinlan and Steve Guttenberg in the MGM feature Zeus and Roxanne. Following this, Delfino moved to Los Angeles with her family and soon found herself starring in the successful WB series Roswell. On hiatus from Roswell, Delfino was cast as a privileged junkie in Steven Soderbergh's Oscar-winning film Traffic. She worked alongside an ensemble of great actors and won an ALMA award and a SAG award for her performance. Delfino continues to explore complex and challenging roles that showcase her versatility, such as her starring role in the much-anticipated independent feature State's Evidence, in which she portrays a disturbed and vulnerable teen who vows to commit suicide on videotape. Delfino accompanied this extremely dark film with the upbeat ABC Family film Celeste in the City with Ethan Embry, Nicholas Brendon, and Deborah Gibson.
Delfino began her professional music career in 1999, when her independent debut album "The Sicks" was released. The album was met with rave reviews and sold 12,000 units on-line without the benefit of any advertising budget whatsoever. Majandra toured the country in support of her album, playing live shows in New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. She has also played numerous sold-out gigs in Paris, where she has a particularly large fan base. Having recorded a duet with French pop singer RoBERT, she has expanded her French fan base even more, including a music video that was broadcast throughout the country. Now she is currently working on her next album through independent label Emperor Penguin Recordings, which she will write, perform, and produce. Majandra's music style has been compared to 'Bjork' , Portishead, and Fiona Apple. As for what her next album will sound like, well, we can only "Sit and Wait."
On the film side of things, Majandra was recently seen in Wim Wenders' comeback Don't Come Knocking, written by and starring American playwright legend Sam Shepard. Finally her dream of working alongside her sister Marieh Delfino was made possible. They both star together in some of the movie's scenes as two Cuban teenagers cavorting with Sam Shepard's character through his dark downfall. She is also set to shoot the much-hyped independent film _Fluorescent (2006)_ directed by Adam Christian Clark.
