Liv Ullmann Biography
Liv Ullmann's father was a Norwegian engineer who used to work abroad, so as a child she lived in Tokyo, Canada, New York and Oslo. In the mid-'50s she made her stage debut and in 1957 made her film debut. She really became successful, however, when she began to work for Swedish director
Ingmar Bergman in such films as
Persona,
The Passion of Anna and
Face to Face. She also had a successful film career away from Bergman (
The Abdication,
Dangerous Moves.

Was offered by Brian De Palma the role of "Kate Miller" in Dressed to Kill (1980), but turned it down on account of the violence of the theme and having a young daughter.

Grew up in and went to school in Trondheim, Norway.

She claims to be the only one of Ingmar Bergman's actresses who hasn't fallen in love with Erland Josephson.

2001: President of jury Festival International de Cannes.

On a Norwegian celebrity game-show she admitted that she one time accidentally washed her cat in the washing-machine (she managed to stop the machine before it was too late).
