We think she'll be around for a while. In fact, we think she has enough capacity to make herself a star vehicle, probably with her own show. Vanessa Hudgens, Gaelan Connell, Alyson Michalka, Scott Porter, Lisa Kudrow. and other stars rocked Hollywood at the premiere of the new film, 'Bandslam!'   Vanessa Hudgens tells "The Insider" about learning to play a new instrument for the film, and explains that although she did not have a normal high school experience she still ended up with a couple of nicknames. "I learned how to play the guitar for this," she says. "I never actually went to high school but my mom calls me Van, and my friends call me V, nothing too embarrassing thankfully."  Alyson Michalka, of the hit music duo Aly & AJ, opens up to "The Insider" about her role in the film and explains that the cast members became very close while filming. "It was nice to be able to step aside and not be a songwriter," she says. "We've all become really close friends. Everybody keeps in contact. Me and Vanessa are like best friends -- it's a very genuinely, honest cast." Scott Porter tells "The Insider" about playing the bully in the film, and about his real-life music experience. "It was a good time, I was never big enough to do it in real life -- so bullying Gaelan in the movie was a good time," he says. "I was a professional beat boxer for seven years, but I do actually play the guitar now. I learned for the movie and continue to play now. Everybody in the movie had to play live. Everybody had to be able to perform their songs, which is why the casting was so intense." In the new film, aspiring musician Will Burton (Connell), starts up a rock band after moving to a new school. The new band sets their sites on the coveted prize of the school's "Bandslam" competition but must take on the favored band the Glory Dogs. NBC's new genealogy reality series, the Hollywood Reporter writes. According to the trade paper, film and television star Lisa Kudrow is the executive producer of the show and will also be featured in the series. The new show will delve into celebrities' ancestral history and is based on a similar BBC series. "This show personalizes history and turns it into a gripping narrative," Kudrow said. "The most striking thing about the show is the realization of how connected we all are." The six-episode series will premiere on NBC April 20 at 8 p.m.

Is Vanessa Hudgens starring in a new version of 'Gone with the Wind'? Not so. But a song of the same name from her sophomore album, Identified, was leaked today on YouTube. The leak comes almost a week before Identified is set to drop on July 1. "Gone With the Wind" is a coming of age song that speaks to the 19-year-old 'High School Musical' star evolving from a girl into a young woman who can stand up and speak out. The album is Hudgens' follow-up to her gold-selling debut V. The 2007 Teen Choice Awards Breakout Singer is set to tour internationally in support of Identified. According to her MySpace page, the star says of the album's vibe: "I always had a knack for a more soulful, jazzy sound, so right off the bat I wanted to kind of let loose, and come up with a sound no one has heard from me before." A fun, upbeat music video has already been filmed for Identified's first single, "Sneakernight." "Sneakernight" may be easier to swallow for her Disney fans than "Gone With the Wind," since dancing in athletic shoes won’t scare away any moms of tweens. You can check out the video and the full-length song for yourself on Vanessa's popular (20 million hits and counting) MySpace page. The new disc comes the summer before the release of highly-anticipated 'High School Musical 3,' which will hit theaters on October 24. Hudgens is also set to appear in the 2009 big-screen comedy 'Rock On,' alongside Lisa Kudrow.
