We greatly admire how Bai Ling stood up to the Chinese government and made a new life for herself in America. If only all political refugees were so beautiful and talented -- but then again, we might have to rethink immigration laws if that were the case. Bai Ling first riveted American audiences in Red Corner (1997), then went on to take parts in Wild Wild West (1999), Anna and the King (1999), and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004). One of People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People in the World 1998" Bai Ling served three years in the People Liberation's Army in China entertaining troops in Tibet. She had a bout of depression which sent her to a mental hospital. She then became a Chinese movie star. All of this was occurred before she was 18.
