"The Insider" joined Lil' Kim and her pro dance partner Derek Hough during rehearsals for their first performance on the new season of "Dancing with the Stars," and the multi-platinum, Grammy-winning rapper and singer tells us she's a "huge fan" of the ABC show! "When I was in prison, me and my girls used to watch ['Dancing with the Stars']," says Kim. "My girls were like, 'Kim, you need to be on that show.' In prison you have to all agree what shows you watch. If we can't agree, it doesn't get watched. Everyone watched it faithfully. It's like the No. 1 show in prison!" In 2005, Kim (aka Kimberly Denise Jones) was defending herself against a perjury charge in a case involving the whereabouts of her manager during a shooting outside a New York radio station in 2001. She was ultimately sentenced to one-year-and-a-day in the Philadelphia Detention Center. On partnering with last year's "DWTS" champ Derek (with Brooke Burke), Kim says, "I was hoping and praying that I got Derek for my partner." Derek responds, "I was nervous [to meet Kim], but she's so soft-spoken and nice. We gelled immediately." Last season's "Dancing With The Stars" champ Derek Hough is opening up about his new "DWTS" partner Lil' Kim -- dishing about how it is to work with the hip hop artist and how the duo have been getting along so far! On a new MySpace.com blog entitled "Rehearsing with Lil' Kim," Derek calls his new partner "unbelievably nice and intuitive," adding that she is a "great student." Derek writes: "…I'm in New York City at the moment training up my new partner for this season of DWTS, none other than the wonderful LIL KIM... I’m happy to say that she has surpassed my expectations so far and think she will surprise a lot of people. I have been a tourist in the city while I have been here, taking pictures and seeing all the wonderful shows. But I am ready to go back to LA.
