Miss America 1955 Mother of actresses Kyle Aletter and Lesley Aletter Related to Meriwether Lewis, 19th century explorer and later governor of the Louisiana Territory. Was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, a Masonic community service group for girls aged 11-20. Measurements: 34 1/2B-22-35 (Source: Celebrity Sleuth magazine) Classmate of Bill Bixby. As a 19-year-old drama student from California, she was crowned Miss America in 1954, the year of the first live telecast, and was the first to cry tears of joy at the announcement. Went to high school with future singer Johnny Mathis. Contrary to popular belief, she never played Catwoman on the series Batman. Only Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt did. She did, however, play Catwoman in the movie Batman and later played another character in two episodes of the series.
