Kirstie Alley and Jenny Craig may have gone their separate ways, but the one-time "Fat Actress" isn't giving up on the weight loss industry.
"After lengthy negotiations, regretfully the Jenny Craig Company and I did not come to an agreement to continue as their spokesperson," Alley said in a statement posted on People Magazine's Web site Tuesday.
Alley, 57, told People that while her experience with Jenny Craig was "extraordinary," she wants "to create something new that will help millions of people end the seemingly never ending fatty-roller coaster ride."
Alley said she intends to develop her own weight-loss brand with plans to launch in 2009.
"We are sorry that she did not accept our offer" to continue appearing in the company's ad campaign, Scott Parker, vice president of marketing for Jenny Craig, told People. "We wish her all the best in her future endeavors."

Kirstie I have to say that I was impressed when you joined JC and lost weight. I owned a weight loss program for 15 years and never had one bad or client bad mouth my program. I am taken back with JC blogs on her program. Mostly,I have to agree with the blogs. The staff hates JC and they are not smart or trained in nutrition or understand weight loss. My program was multifasceted. We had nutritionist, exercise physiologists, psychologists and doctors all working together I joined JC because I stopped smoking and met a man and gained weight. I feel like I made the wrong decision joining, but I was desperate and fat. I hope you do open your weight loss program. Call me I have great knowledge and would love to brain storm Thanks so much Judy Adler
It doesn't matter how much Kristie weighs, the real Kristie is inside, her spirit, her soul, personality etc...If she is happy with herself, thats all that matters. The news media is very cruel and they love to take pictures of bulges, dimples, etc..on different celebs, who cares!!! What a person looks like doesn't make the person, and who are we to judge anyone, anyway!!!!!
Great idea Kristie. Hope you get it done. Having gone through the struggle yourself, I'm sure you will develop a program for those of us that struggle every day and cannot afford these high priced programs.
