Like a strong cup of coffee first thing in the morning, Katie Couric has been a staple of network morning television since 1991. We don't expect to see her leave her Today show post anytime soon. Katie is most famous for her long-running association with NBC's top-rated morning program, Today. After becoming the show's first national correspondent in 1990, she became its coanchor in April of 1991. She can also be seen as a regular contributor to Dateline NBC, and has made cameo appearances in Austin Powers in Goldmember and NBC's Will & Grace (both in 2002), and also provided the voice of Katie Current in the animated feature Shark Tale (2004).

Will "Jon & Kate Plus 8" star Kate Gosselin attend Maria Shriver's annual women's conference, alongside Cindy McCain, Elizabeth Edwards and Katie Couric? The Associated Press reports that Shriver sent an invitation to the reality TV star five months ago at the suggestion of her teenage daughters who watch the hit TLC show. "I think [Kate’s] life has certainly changed dramatically, but so be it," Shriver told The Associated Press. "I think that's the beauty of this conference -- to have Madeleine Albright and Kate Gosselin at the same place." California's first lady will host her annual conference in Long Beach this October, says the AP. Gosselin was photographed on the Fourth of July holiday with her estranged husband Jon Gosselin -- marking the first time they were spotted together since their headline-grabbing split.

Katie Couric sat down with David Letterman on "The Late Show" Monday night, and she revealed that although baseball star Alex Rodriguez did not come clean to her about his steroid use he actually sought her advice on his baseball career. Rodriguez appeared on "60 Minutes" in 2007 and during that interview he told the Emmy Award-winning broadcaster that he was not using steroids. Couric explained to Letterman that she had no reason to doubt Rodriguez and thought he was telling the truth because she generally tries to believe the best in people. The "CBS Evening News" anchor explained that Rodriguez later called to apologize for his dishonesty after reports surfaced that he had used performance enhancing drugs. "He said, 'I'm really sorry - I'd love to sit down and talk to you about all this sometime.' He actually wrote me a note, and I believe it was hand delivered." Couric also revealed that this wasn't the only phone call she received from the Yankees shortstop, he actually called her at one point for her advice. "I was talking to him a lot during that whole opting out period," Couric says. "At one time he even asked me for career advice. He said, 'what team do you think I should play for?'" After hearing this news Letterman joked: "That should have told you he was on the juice, that he's calling you."

AP - Imagine what might have happened to Katie Couric a couple of weeks ago if she hadn't kept her briefing books straight.
The 'Miracle on the Hudson' pilot -- who successfully landed a plane in New York's Hudson River earlier this month, saving the lives of all passengers -- is giving his first interview! The Associated Press reports that CBS News' Katie Couric has landed the first interview with hero pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and his crew – and it's set to air on CBS' "60 Minutes” on February 8. Sullenberger was initially set to speak with NBC "Today Show"'s Matt Lauer, but the interview did not happen because the water landing of U.S. Airways Flight 1549 was under investigation, says the AP.

Katie Couric's charm with the audience seems to be slipping, and now she is in trouble with the tax man. Couric is an anchor of the "CBS Evening News."

Couric apparently owes $210.41 from an unpaid bill in 2003, and the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance has issued a warrant for Couric.
E! Online - Katie Couric's charm isn't winning over audiences on television and it certainly isn't helping get the tax man off her back. He wants the CBS newswoman to pay her debt now.
