Danielle Staub of Bravo's "Real Housewives of New Jersey" opened up in a new TV interview about reported allegations that she has a criminal past. Of reported allegations that she was put on probation for extortion in the past, she told Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on the "Today" show this morning: "I can only touch on it. I can just say, um, it's out there, and it will be addressed, and I will definitely touch on all the subjects that are crucially in need of touching on at the time, when the time is right and the platform is correct." She did give a little away, saying, "Everybody has somebody in their past or their present that would like to say embellished, nasty things about them, so, yeah." The other housewives, minus Jacqueline Laurita, who sat out the interview since she is due to give birth any day, opened up about everything from their newfound fame, to being a "stage mommy." Teresa Giudice, whose eight-year-old daughter Gia is portrayed pursuing an acting and modeling career on this season of the series, says, "I don't think I'm a stage mom. I think Gia's fabulous and I am just a supportive mom." Caroline Manzo, the den mother-like figure on the show, says that she believes that it's fate that she and her cohorts ended up starring in their own reality series, "It was something that was meant to be, for whatever that reason is -- go with it, learn from it, the good and the bad. That's what life is about, right?" Caroline's sister and sister-in-law (the sisters married brothers) Dina Manzo said that she "can't get used" to being recognized by fans, and also jokes about the reality aspect of the show, "I like to call it enhanced reality." Danielle, for her part, is loving all the attention the show's fans have been heaping upon her: "For me it's a comfort. It's almost like my family's happy to see me coming home for the picnic. For me it's almost like people are embracing me, and I'm sort of not used to that, so it's really a good feeling."

"This morning on national TV, Kathie Lee Gifford says I should be whacked," Tricia says in the latest rant. "This from a born-again Christian, this from a woman who's been trying to get a crappy musical she wrote into a Shubert theater." Walsh -Smith must have not heard Kathie Lee correctly. On Thursday's "Today" show, after showing a clip of Walsh-Smith's press conference, Gifford says, " I think she is going to have a hard time finding love again." Gifford goes on to suggest that the dating agency that set up "Today" show co-host Hoda Kotb so "successfully" should take a "whack" at Tricia. "I do want her to find love, everyone deserves love."

NEW YORK (AP) - Kathie Lee Gifford will soon be back on TV's early shift. The former co-star of the syndicated ''Live'' talk show will join NBC's ''Today'' next Monday. She will be teamed with Hoda Kotb (pronounced HO-dah COT-bee), a current anchor of the program's seven-month-old fourth hour, which airs live at 10 a.m. EDT.

Gifford, who left as co-host in 2000, is slated to appear Sept. 14, when Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa take a look back at the show's most memorable moments. Ripa joined the show as co-host in 2001.
