British born Kate Maberly began her acting career at age eight, with small roles in the British TV movies Ex and Anglo Saxon Attitudes. Her big break, however, came in 1992 when she was cast as the lead in the feature film version of _Secret Garden, The (1993)_ . This critically acclaimed performance as the orphaned girl Mary Lennox, soon led to prominent roles in The Langoliers, Gulliver's Travels and the BBC drama Mothertime.

Eventually, Kate's acting career took a back seat to her schoolwork, appearing in only a handful of small roles through the rest of her teen years. Since finishing college in fall 2004, Kate has appeared alongside Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet in Finding Neverland. More recently she appears with Toni Collette in the feature film Like Minds, and in the film comedy Popcorn.
During an interview on the set of The Secret Garden, declared that she did not wish to pursue acting as an adult. Younger sister of actress Polly Maberly She plays piano and cello to a high standard. She joined the swimming team at age 5 and won an award for best swimmer in 1992. She skipped an early year of school. Her father is an attorney. She has one younger brother (Jack), two older brothers (Thomas and Guy), and a sister (Polly). Graduated from London's Trinity College of Music with a double major in piano and cello (2004).
