Trained at Guildhall School of Drama in London and graduated in 1990. Has three brothers and two sisters. Expecting her first child with Daniel Lapaine in October 2002. It is reported that Fay was offered 500,000 pounds to stay with the series, "Cold Feet" (1997). She met UK actor James Purefoy when she was just 16 and lived with him for more than a decade. Gave birth to her 2nd child, a boy called called Sonny on 4th October 2006.
