She and actor Jimmy Hanley had three children, one died at birth.
Sir John Davis, President of the Rank Studios, proposed to Dinah on the condition that she give up acting. She accepted and retired just as stardom hit with the film Genevieve. The strain of her lost career put too much of a strain on their marriage and they divorced 11 years later.
Mother of the politician Sir Jeremy Hanley and actress Jenny Hanley.
Contrary to several sources, she is not the grandmother of Nicollette Sheridan and Nick Savalas.
