Carole was born in London. She subsequently lived in Scotland, France, Hawaii, Cambodia, Thailand. While living in France she was lead singer for rock band 'Les Variations'. In her early twenties she moved to New York City and studied sociology at Hunter College, supporting herself by modelling. In 1976 she tested to be a Playboy Playmate and was included in a pictorial of Playmate hopefuls in early 1977. She wasn't selected to be a Playmate, but went on to be a Penthouse Pet in January 1980 under the name of Tamara Kapitas. She returned to music later in the 1980s, releasing an album of jazz influenced songs.
