Carmen was born of Norwegian heritage on March 25, 1985 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to Carl and Michelle Rasmusen. The second of four children, Carmen began playing piano at the age of six. She spent most of her childhood performing; singing, dancing (includes cheerleading, tap, ballet and hip-hop dance) until going to Hollywood in early 2003 and becoming one of the Top Twelve Finalists (out of 50,000 competitors) for "American Idol". She is aspiring to attend Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah and become a dermatologist.



Graduated Woods Cross High School, Class of 2003 Carmen anchored the soundtrack to Pride and Prejudice (2003) and her single "Be With You" from the movie gets much air in Utah. Announced that she is expecting her first child, a son, near Christmas 2008. (August 2008). Released full-length country album "Nothin' Like the Summer" in 2007.
