Daughter of John Raitt and Marjorie Haydock. Awarded the Harvard Arts Medal. [3 May 1997] Born at 4:08pm-PST. Singer. Dominated the Grammy ceremonies in Los Angeles, winning four awards for her tenth album: Album of the Year (for "Nick of Time"); Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female; Best Rock Vocal Performance, Female, and Best Traditional Blues Recording (for her duet with John Lee Hooker: "I'm in the Mood"). [21 February 1990] Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. Announced plans to divorce Michael O'Keefe on 9 November 1999. Ranked #4 on VH1's 100 Greatest Women of Rock N Roll. In fall of 2004 she participated in the Vote for Change concert tour organized to encourage the defeat of George W. Bush in the U.S. presidential election. Sister of Steven Raitt and David Raitt.
