Ann Reinking was born on 10 November 1949 in Seattle, Washington, USA. Renowned more for her dancing than acting, Reinking has danced in many Broadway shows. She made her film debut in Movie Movie (1978) and the following year starred opposite Roy Scheider and Jessica Lange in the Bob Fosse biopic All That Jazz, which won many Oscar nominations - including a nod for Best Picture of 1979. Reinking was charming as Grace Farrell, the sympathetic and devoted secretary to grouchy Daddy Warbucks (Albert Finney) in John Houston's Annie (1982), in which she sang the songs "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here", "We Got Annie" and "Let's Go To The Movies". Her best performance was also in her last film to date in Blake Edwards' brilliant 1984 comedy Micki + Maude, in which Dudley Moore plays a bigamist with two pregnant wives - workaholic attorney Micki (Reinking) and laidback cellist Maude (Amy Irving). After that, Ann Reinking never made another motion picture. She married financier Herbert Allen and only popped up sporadically in TV shows and on the stage. Her big Broadway comeback came in the early 1990s with Chicago, which won her a well-deserved Tony Award for Best Choreography.



Played the role of Maggie on the Broadway stage in Over Here with John Travolta and The Andrews Sisters. She choreographed Fosse performed at the Prince of Wales Theatre which was nominated for Best Musical at the 2001 (2000 season) Laurence Olivier Theatre Awards. She was nominated for a 1998 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Theatre Choreographer of 1997 season for Chicago. Closely associated with dancer/choreographer Bob Fosse, she was his protégé and partner both personally and professionally during the 1970s (though Fosse was separated from, but still married to, Gwen Verdon), and continues to this day promoting his name and dancing style. Replaced Gwen Verdon as Roxie Hart in the stage version of "Chicago" in 1977 although there was a 25-year age difference. Verdon herself was married to Fosse. Performed at "Broadway Comes To Yonkers" a benefit to help raise money for "Youth Theatre Interactions, Inc. (YTI)" a Westchester-based theatre school that caters to apsiring actors between the ages of 9-19. Despite playing a part based on herself in All That Jazz (1979), director Bob Fosse still made her audition several times before she was cast. She and Chet Walker were nominated for a 1988 Joseph Jefferson Award for Choreography for "Pal Joey" at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
