There was a lot of game play involved in Tuesday night's elimination on "The Biggest Loser." First host Alison Sweeney informed both the blue and black teams that only one player's weight would count for the whole team at the weigh-in, but that the team that won the boating challenge, would have the right to reject the winning team's first choice. The blue team won the challenge, but when the black team named Jessica as the player from the blue team that they wanted Elizabeth to go up against, the blue team let the choice stand. Unfortunately, Jessica only lost four pounds, which put the blue team on the chopping block. Every other player on the team, except Aaron, had lost enough weight to beat Elizabeth, so they made a bad choice. When it came time to vote off a player, the blue team's vote was split. Half voted for Jessica because she had the lowest percentage of weight loss, but half voted for Adam, seeing him as the biggest threat and wanting to get him off the ranch. Of course, it didn't help that a few weeks back Adam had won the cupcake challenge and was holding on to his prize: a one-pound advantage that grew by one pound each week he didn't use it. This week, if he had played it -- when it was worth three pounds -- he would have been safe. Now "The Insider" talks to the ousted "Loser," who has shed 138 pounds, down from his starting weight of 402. The vote last night seemed to be on game play. Can you talk about how that made you feel and were you surprised that your team didn't have your back? Adam Hurtado: Ultimately, the voting process kind of served as a compliment to me. I viewed it as they saw me as a threat. I worked so hard in the gym and really gave it my all at all times that it ultimately singled me out as a threat. I knew that was a possibility. It led to me getting voted off. Like I said, no hard feelings to my team. They had to do what they had to do to stay there at the ranch. I won't hold it against them. What was the hardest adjustment you had to make when you got home? Adam Hurtado: The hardest adjustment was trying to find a trainer and a gym that was comparable to my stay at "The Biggest Loser," and, obviously, that is almost impossible. It was very difficult to replicate how Bob [Harper] and Jill [Jillian Michaels] inspired me. That ultimately led me to linking up with my brother Ryan. He is such an inspiration to me. He was able to kind of achieve the success that Bob and Jill had with me. What are you doing diet wise and fitness wise to lose the weight at home? Adam Hurtado: I am really mixing up my workouts as much as possible. I am cross-training at the moment across all fields. What it is doing is making it more enjoyable for me than working out in the gym every day. I do a combination of boxing, swimming, and running. I am doing football drills with my brother, running the stadium stairs and just staying active throughout the whole day. As far as the nutrition side, the ["Biggest Loser"] meal plan has been amazing. When I was at home in California, half of the time since I have been home that definitely jump started and opened my eyes to the fact that nutrition and health don't have to be… we have that misconception that it tastes bad and is bland and boring. That really reinforced me to stay on my diet and had me eating comparable to what I was eating on the ranch. When you look back at the cupcake challenge, were you more focused on game play than the long-term success? Adam Hurtado: At that moment, ultimately, I was focused on the fact that I already knew that all the other contestants were gunning for me. That is what drove me to take part in that temptation challenge. Everyone said that once I received that reward that is when I became a target. Unfortunately to me, that is not how I felt. I felt that target was already on my back and that is what drove me to do it. It wasn't the fact that it was cupcakes. I truly believed that I was going to need that advantage to stay on the ranch. How could you have played that advantage differently to not make yourself a target? Adam Hurtado: There are a number of ways. I could not have done the temptation challenge. That crossed my mind several times after I did it. I had some guilt. It worked out that, in fact, I did need it, but I wasn't wise enough to play it the week I was sent home. Had I used it, I would have lost 16 pounds -- 13 plus 3 would have made me safe as opposed to Mark. Unfortunately, I didn't use it at the right time. What was one bad habit you had to drop when you got home? Adam Hurtado: The one bad habit that I had to cut out was just overeating. My portions were five times that of a normal person, or of someone who is trying to lose weight. It was hard to cut my calories to the number of a healthy person. I ate 1500 to 1800 when I was on the ranch. Looking back, there were days when I ate 5000 calories. Cutting that in half was the hardest part. Now, my body has grown accustomed to having a healthy calorie intake. It is manageable. What is the best diet tip you learned? Adam Hurtado: The best diet tip that I learned on the ranch and that I have implemented in my life now is really taking time to appreciate the food we are consuming on a daily basis: spending time in the kitchen with family and friends and getting out to the market and really taking time to pick out something suitable for your family. Weight loss is unique. You have to find what works best with you. Spending time with my grandmother, father, brother preparing the meals, you get a whole new appreciation for what you are putting into your body. I think it ultimately leads to weight loss. "The Biggest Loser" airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on NBC.
