Wyclef Jean says he risked his life to make his gang documentary Ghosts of Cite Soleil in Haiti because he found out that he was a wanted man there. He was in fear after learning that gang leaders disapproved of his documentary of the streets of Port-Au-Prince and some wanted him dead. He said:
"I thought I'd die before that documentary was finished. One time I was going to see a gang leader, and they'd told him to shoot me on sight. 'Boss, these people have given me the authority to shoot you. What do you want me to do?' I said, 'Tell them I come in peace. I'm not Martin Luther King of Gandhi, and if I have to, I'll rise like Che Guevara.'"
Yikes, the things people do to entertain others. I hope he felt it was worth the risk.
