Trivia
Enjoys horseback riding and is an avid polo player and has won many awards for it.
Owns a Restaurant, Devane's, that specializes in New York-Italian cuisine in Indio, California.
Has the rare distinction of being in two movies that opened on the same weekend in the U.S. - Hollow Man and Space Cowboys (August 6, 2000).
He replaced Roy Thinnes in Alfred Hitchcock's "Family Plot" (1976) one month into the filming, after the legendary director found out that he was then available, because Devane was Hitchcock's first choice for the part. Some long shots in the film are still of Thinnes, but all other footage was re-shot with Devane.
Appeared with Donald Sutherland in Space Cowboys. He is currently co-starring with Donald's son, Kiefer Sutherland, in 24.
Has played two US cabinet members in his roles: the Secretary of Defense in "24" and the Secretary of State in "The West Wing"
As an added irony after playing cabinet members in "West Wing", he went on to play the President on "Stargate SG-1".
