Vanilla Ice exploded onto the rap music scene in 1990 with the smash single "Ice Ice Baby". Despite his suburban up-bringing, Vanilla Ice tried to pass himself off as a "kid from the streets" to appeal towards the loyal rap audience. As it turned out, he acheived most of his success from the mainstream pop audience, and it was not long before his career hit a dead end, with most people veiwing him as a fraud.
